What is Prompts By Design?
Prompts By Design is a personal library for AI prompts. You save your best prompts once, add reusable variables like [{ tone }] or [{ audience }], and then run them anywhere — in the web app, in the Chrome extension, or as an installed app on your phone.
Is it free to try?
Yes. You can sign up and use Prompts By Design for free with no credit card required. Lifetime access is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — and it includes access to a growing library of curated, ready-to-run prompts. No per-prompt charges, ever.
What do Lifetime members get?
Everything in the free app, plus full access to a curated, growing library of ready-to-run prompts for websites, images, copy, code, marketing, and more. New curated prompts are added regularly and included automatically — no per-prompt fees, no subscription. One payment, whole system, whole library.
What's the difference between the Free and Lifetime accounts?
Free gives you the prompts marked Free plus your own private library at no cost. Lifetime is a one-time purchase that supports the app and unlocks every curated prompt — including every new one added in the future. Pay once, keep access forever.
Which AI tools does it work with?
Any of them. Prompts By Design stores your prompt text and copies the finished version to your clipboard, so you can paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, Lovable, or any other AI tool. You can tag each prompt with an app type so it opens the right tool when you copy it.
How do variables work?
Wrap any placeholder in your prompt in square-curly brackets: [{ audience }]. When you run the prompt, Prompts By Design asks for each variable one at a time and fills them into the final text before copying it to your clipboard.
Are the prompts I add public?
No. Your prompts are private to your account by default. Row-level security and strict access controls keep them that way. You can share a prompt if you want to, but sharing is always an explicit choice you make.
Can I share my prompts with other people?
Yes. When you save a prompt you can choose to share it with everyone, with Lifetime members only, or keep it private. Shared prompts show up in the shared library and other people can copy them into their own library to edit.
Do my prompts get used to train AI models?
No. Prompts By Design stores your prompts in your private account. Some optional features (the Kitchen rewrite, the Laboratory refinement chat, and the sparkle helpers) send the text you type to an AI provider so it can respond, but your prompt library is never sold or used for model training.
Is there a Chrome extension?
Yes. The Prompts By Design Chrome extension mirrors your library and asks for variables one at a time, so you can run any saved prompt directly from your browser toolbar without opening the site.
Can I install it on my phone?
Yes. Prompts By Design is a Progressive Web App. Open the site in Safari on iOS or Chrome on Android and use 'Add to Home Screen' to install it — it opens full-screen like a native app.
Does it keep a version history of my prompts?
Yes. Every time you edit a prompt, the previous version is saved automatically (up to the last five versions) so you can see how a prompt evolved and roll back if needed.
What happens when I copy a filled-in prompt?
The finished text is copied to your clipboard and a snapshot is saved to your history, so you always have a record of the exact prompt you actually ran, with all variables filled in.
